The Lyrics Of Our Song

                                                       Our Lyrics

I was joking with a friend recently as we shared a birthday lunch together that my life was becoming the lyrics to a bad country song.
Mine would go something like this:

I lost my job, my dog is dying, troubles come and the world is trying,
Trying to steal my destiny.
Bankruptcy, our children slip, dreams we had have lost their grip,
Trying to steal my destiny.

You get the picture.
A laundry list of events.
Moments in life that seem to erase our joy if we allow it.

I can truthfully express to you that I have never felt so inundated with bad news and dream destruction as I have the past few months... Literally everything I ever worked for, my children worked for, my husband worked for, gone.

I would be lying to say to you there haven't been moments where I wake in the middle of the night in sheer terror of what will happen next.

But the message needs to remain clear.
This song that is being written in my life is NOT my destiny.
And when the moments seem too overwhelming I call 911:

Psalms 91:1
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High WILL rest in the shadow of the Almighty!

Everyday we must stay in the shelter and everyday we must ARISE & SHINE.
That means on the worst of days and on the best of days, everyday.

We are living in a world that is rapidly changing and God has spoken to me on more then one occasion that the world we once knew will never be the same again.
I am excited about that! I choose joy, because I have to!
I choose peace because I have to!
I choose love because I have to!
The world and those in it NEED the joy, love and peace we carry inside of us, and if Satan can make the knees buckle on Gods warriors then he wins.
Let me state for the record.... I WILL NOT TAKE A KNEE!

Everything in this life that I thought would happen has now been erased but I trust in the One who carves my path and He has other ideas.... sometimes we have to wander in the wilderness for a while before we reach our promised land.

So yes, there are lyrics to my song but they will go something like this:
I may be homeless but not helpless.
I am unemployed but not unattached,
I am drenched but not drowning,
I am confused but not captured,
I still have my footing and satan better look out.... for my family will rebound stronger, more powerful and even more joyful then ever before.
Nothing will steal our destiny......

In closing I simply want to say to anyone reading this who may be groping around in the darkness~
Do not plug yourself into the light the world offers, its a lie.
Plug yourself into your own personal light source, your own power plant, He is sturdy, immovable and dependable. He loves you and longs for you to come to Him. The world as we know it will never be the same again but that is a GOOD thing. For He wants nothing but good for you.

These are just a few of His promises:

Your sun will never go down,

your moon will never fade. (Isaiah 60)

Messages of joy instead of news of doom,

a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. (Isaiah 61)

You'll get a brand-new name

straight from the mouth of God.
You'll be a stunning crown in the palm of God's hand,
a jeweled gold cup held high in the hand of your God. (Isaiah 62)

WHOO HOO!!! Those are only a few, a morsel, a tiny bit of what His word says about our promises....

So re-write those lyrics and sing a new song!!
God loves you so much and so do I!!

  1. Dawn,

Your thoughts today reminded me why the three Gifts are so vital in our journey. Faith, Hope and the greatest gift, Love. Some days are harder than others to keep our faith, our human intellects are conditioned on logic and having faith is a everyday endeavor to believe in things we cannot necessarily see in the present. It's like training our eyes to see a sound. "For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2ndCorinthians 4:18) But I know you make a conscious humble effort everyday to strengthen your faith,( and faith of others) so your disappointments will never become defeats. Having faith allows us to take another step forward knowing God's plan is not always our own, and allows us to feel hopeful, knowing that there is a deeper, bigger, more meaningful plan ahead that our human mind is not capable of mapping out for ourselves. Hope is the bridge to Glory. Love, His Greatest Gift, does not need any conditioning of our logical brains, just an open heart. Just as simply as the birds beautifully sing, we simply and beautifully love. When we receive these gifts into our heart, our darkest days and disappointments can never defeat us. So simple, but all of us need to be reminded when our hearts our heavy and forget what we are working for can never be lost, for what we are truly working for can not be rewarded fully until we are in His presence. On a side note, sometimes a good cup of coffee and old friend and shoulder helps unwrap our presents. :) I love ya....thanks for uplifting my day everyday with your loving reminders on FB! :)))) Laura ♥

  2. Hi Dawn,

I have been looking forward to you writing again, and you have not disappointed me. What a wonderful outlook and perspective to have on one's calamities. You are blessed indeed!

Hang on in there. If you can get through your times of trouble as you rely solely and fully on the spirit of God, nothing will ever defeat you, and that will be a glorious testimony to the world around you.
